Recipes

The Riley family came to Alabama over 130 years ago, leaving behind its roots in Tumblin Shoales, South Carolina. Full of hope and dreams of a new life, they settled in Clay County. Bob’s grandparents were farmers, growing mostly cotton. They built their home on the farm where Bob and I raised our four children. Bob’s grandfather later left the farm and opened a small general store. Mama Riley would trade recipes with customers, while working alongside Daddy Riley. With hard work and faith in God they raised their family and built their future. Many of these recipes are from Riley family members. Other recipes have been given to me by my family and friends, and through the years they have become favorites of our family. As we share these recipes with you, I hope you will reflect on your own family heritage and the bonds passed from one generation to the next.
